چکیده

Background: Orthognathic surgery is widely used surgical procedure. The most common orthognathic procedure bilateral sagittal split osteotomy (BSSO) that for managing skeletal mandibular excess, deficiency or asymmetry. Objective: To correct functional and aesthetic problems. Patients Methods: A total of (12 patients) 24 condyles have been included in our study all with cl II malocclusion, open bites asymmetry, both genders males females, their age ranges between18 to 40 years, the cases had preoperative postoperative CT scans. Results: By comparing pre post operative scans regarding condylar positions groups. results revealed there was less movement head group device direction more favorable. Conclusion: This showed Digitally Planned Custom Made guide useful repositioning minimal operatively favorable movement. Keywords: surgery, condyles, CADCAM guides, ramus osteotomy, proximal segment

A transoral approach for three-dimensional repositioning of the proximal segment after mandibular sagittal split ramus osteotomy.

Maintenance of the presurgical position of the proximal segment is extremely important after a sagittal split ramus osteotomy (SSRO) to reduce the incidence of short-term relapse or temporomandibul~ joint dysfunction, particularly when rigid fixation is used.‘” The use of numerous techniques and devices has been proposed to solve the problem of condylar repositioning.4-” In 1985, Luhr’ describe...

Endoscopic-assisted medial osteotomy during sagittal split ramus osteotomy.

In this article, we describe endoscopic-assisted medial ramus osteotomy during sagittal split ramus osteotomy (SSRO). Surgical repositioning of the mandible by bilateral SSRO has become a safer and more reliable procedure through ingenuity of surgical methods, development of special instruments and improvement of surgical skills. The horizontal medial osteotomy should be located at or just abov...

Effect of perioperative buccal fracture of the proximal segment on postoperative stability after sagittal split ramus osteotomy

OBJECTIVES Buccal fracture of the mandibular proximal bone segment during bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy (SSRO) reduces the postoperative stability. The primary aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of this type of fracture on bone healing and postoperative stability after mandibular setback surgery. MATERIALS AND METHODS Ten patients who experienced buccal fracture during SSR...

Unilateral intraoral vertical ramus osteotomy and sagittal split ramus osteotomy for the treatment of asymmetric mandibles

In surgery for facial asymmetry, mandibles can be classified into two types, rotational and translational, according to the required mandibular movements for surgery. During surgery for rotational mandibular asymmetry, a bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy (BSSRO) may cause a large bone gap between the proximal and distal segments as well as condylar displacement, resulting in a relapse of...

Position of mandibular canal and ramus morphology before and after sagittal split ramus osteotomy.

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to evaluate changes in the mandibular canal and ramus morphology before and after a sagittal split ramus osteotomy. PATIENTS AND METHODS The subjects were 30 patients (60 sides) with mandibular prognathism who had undergone bilateral sagittal split ramus osteotomy setback surgery. The mandibular canal position and ramus morphology were measured at the 3 h...
